Betty Simmons Temple

Betty Simmons Temple, having just celebrated her 91st birthday, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 1, 2019. Betty was born in Bennettsville, SC to the late C. C. and Bessie S. Simmons. Her brother, W. Ray Simmons, and sister, Willie S. Adams predeceased her. The love of her life, her husband Marvin Mann Temple predeceased her in 1987. Betty attended both Maury and Hickory High Schools, cheerleading at both schools and participated in basketball. Betty loved reading books and doing crossword puzzles. Her family has many fond memories of Betty and Marvin at their beach house on the Outer Banks, and the fish fries they hosted. Betty was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother who made family a priority in her life. She is survived by her children, Phyllis J. Temple (Alvin Owens) and Timothy C. Temple, “T.C.”, (Stacy S.), her beloved grandchildren, Austin Mann Temple and Chandler Linn Temple. She will be deeply missed by family and friends. The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Seaside, Atlantic Shores and to Medi Home Health & Hospice for the tender, loving care given to our mom. Services for the family are private. A celebration of her life is to be held at a later date. Donations in Betty’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
