 Obituario de Boyd Foxwell
On Good Friday, April 2, 2021, Herbert ”Boyd” Foxwell, 85, passed away peacefully after complications from CMML2 and a rare platelet disorder. Boyd was born in Norfolk, Virginia on December 13, 1935 to the late Robert H. Foxwell and Ida G. Foxwell. He graduated from Granby High School. He was raised in South Norfolk Lodge No. 339 and was a Member of Kempsville Lodge No. 196 and a Noble of Khedive Shrine. In the Shrine, he was a member of the Drum & Bugle Corps and Clown Unit. He enjoyed entertaining children at the Shriner’s Hospitals and marching in parades as a clown. In January 1981, he married the love of his life, Deborah Gregory Foxwell. Their marriage lasted over 40 years and leaves behind a very strong legacy of love, family and happiness. Boyd enjoyed working, playing golf and he never retired. He was still working two days a week up until he passed away. Loving and supporting his family was his number one priority. He was beloved by so many and never met a stranger! His ability to make others feel welcome, quick wit, and positive attitude were why others were instantly drawn to him. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Deborah (DeDe) Gregory Foxwell; his daughter, Debra Foxwell Thrasher (Fred); his granddaughter, Lauren Brooke Smithson (Ryan); and his great-granddaughter, Callie Brooke Grose. He was surrounded in his life by “his girls” as he called them: DeDe, Debra, Brooke and Callie. Also survived are his brother, L. David Foxwell; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Foxwell; and his nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. The family will receive friends during A Celebration of Life at a later date. The details will be published in the newspaper at that time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children at https://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/shc/donate. Condolences may be offered online at www.kellumfuneralhome.com.
