

Clarence E. Pulley, 83, also known as Grangy and Pop Pop to his grandchildren, departed his earthly life and entered into eternal life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 10, 2011. He was born on May 16, 1928, the beloved son of the late Andrew and Nona Pulley. Clarence entered the United States Navy on May 17, 1946 and served his country proudly until retiring on April 30, 1969 with 23 years of service. Following his military career Clarence worked at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens as a carpenter. Wood working was one of his favorite past times along with fishing and hunting. Clarence was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk. He was a faithful husband, adoring father, beloved grandfather and a true friend who will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of almost 57 years, Maxine M. Pulley; his children, Debra P. Wanzong and husband Jim, Barry E. Pulley, and Russell K. Pulley and wife Kim; his adoring grandchildren, Amber Pulley, Elizabeth and Christopher Wanzong, Jordan, Kamryn and Joseph Pulley; brothers, Tom Pulley and wife Frances and Everette Pulley and wife Brenda and numerous other loving relatives.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM in Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road in Virginia Beach. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 11:30 AM in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, in Norfolk with full military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 6350 CenterDrive, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502 or First Baptist Church of Norfolk, 312 Kempsville Road, Norfolk, 23502 in Clarence’s name.
