Claude Jefferson McCoy, known to everyone as “Jeff”, passed away October 11th 2021 at the awesome age of 92. Jeff was the best husband, best dad, best grandfather, best neighbor and best friend to anyone who knew him. Sailor of seas and oceans, drinker of whiskey and beer - He had seen it all, done it all, and had the stories to tell you that he did.
Born in Eldon, Iowa on September 28, 1929, to Walter & Mary McCoy, he and his bothers Walter Jr, Ralph, Tim, and Harold all served in the US Navy. Jeff retired from the Navy in 1970, after serving 22 years. Jeff then worked at the Norfolk Navy Shipyard for 20 years fixing things the Navy way and telling people what to do. And sometimes…. telling people to just get out of the way, he’d do it himself.
Jeff met his wife, Anita Diaz, in Nice, France in 1965. The two lived happily in love, with their two sons, Steve and Eric. Jeff cherished spending time with his grandchildren, Connor, Sean, Colleen, and Sarah. Jeff would tell you his 55 year marriage with Anita was the best thing he ever did.
Jeff’s memory will live long after his passing through the stories shared with his family and friends.
His best friend Benny, a dog of small size and big personality, awaits him for what will be a nice walk.
