Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on January 5, 1965, to Clinton McRae, and Thomasina McRae, Clinton (Clint) McRae, Jr. was a courageous, smart, and fun-loving child. A child of the 70’s, you could easily catch Clint on the dance floor – as seen on Dance Detroit grooving and hittin’ the robot. Fond memories of running track in Detroit, road trips with mother, father, and brothers, and basking in the hot, North Carolina sun with his grandparents were traditions that grounded Clint in family, love, and service.
In 1985, Clinton McRae met his beautiful wife, Elizabeth (Libby) McRae. In their time of service in the Navy, Clint and Libby traveled across the country: California, Washington, Hawaii, and Virginia with the central mission to love God, serve people, and raise Godly children. In the Navy, Clint worked as a Machinist mate – serving in the bowels of aircraft carrier vessels and regulating nuclear propulsion systems. Aboard the vessels, Clint held a shipboard ministry where he led many fellow shipmen to Christ.
After his service in the Navy concluded, Clint was inspired by God to write his first book, Blessed to Be Broken. After which, Clint wrote many other books, including Standing with the Dead, Parent Leadership for Today (including the workbook), and Sheroes for the Faith. For two decades, Clint faithfully served his local church, Kingdom Cathedral. He passionately taught Sunday School each week – teaching thousands of people the importance of maturing in God through His Word.
Clint is survived by his wife, children, Theodore, Jessica, and Jackie, and grandchildren. Clint’s grandchildren, Jayla, Madison, and Michael, adored their “Little Papa.” Jayla is affectionately, “the daughter I never had.” Madison and Michael are remembered as his “Joy and Laughter.” Clint is also survived by his father, brothers, sister, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Preceded in death by his mother, Thomasina McRae, and grandparents.
Clint lived every day in service to fulfill his mission to love God, serve people, and raise Godly children. We (his family) will miss him dearly. We know that he is with the Lord – and we will see him again in Glory.
A Wake service for Clinton will be held Friday, July 25, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. A Celebration of Life will occur Saturday, July 26, 2025 at10:00 AM at Kingdom Cathedral, 3820 Stoneshore Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23452. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
