Dalbert Orrin Cramer, fondly known as "Pop," passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, in Virginia Beach, VA, at the age of 86. Born on May 29, 1939, in Motley, MN, Dalbert lived a life defined by dedication, service, and love for his family.
Dalbert proudly served in the United States Navy for 22 years, where he attained the prestigious rank of Master Chief. Remarkably, he achieved the Master Chief designation in just 16 years, a distinction typically requiring over 20 years to obtain. After retiring from the Navy, he continued his career on the seas as a Merchant Marine before transitioning to work as a Metal Worker with Globe Iron.
A man who valued structure and discipline, Dalbert carried the lessons of his military service throughout his life. He was passionate about auto racing and enjoyed spending time at the bowling alley. One of his greatest joys was watching his granddaughter play travel softball, both in person and on television.
Dalbert had a deep affection for animals and often took it upon himself to care for those near his home, providing them with food and a safe haven. His kindness extended to all creatures, great and small.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Dallas Cramer and Sophia Schwitalla, and his cherished wife, Lucile Cramer. He is survived by his loving children: sons Anthony Joseph, David Jason (Jenni), and Dale Patrick (Kim) Cramer; daughter Nicole Marie Cramer; and sister Donna Hagen (George). Dalbert was also a proud grandfather to Andrew, Danielle, Robert, Hunter, Mason, AJ, Gavin, Brian, Anna and Missy; and a great-grandfather to Xander, Addison, Mackneize, and Waylon.
A Public Visitation for Dalbert will take place on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, located at 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Following this, a Funeral Service will be held on the same day at 2:00 PM at the same address. An Entombment with Military honors will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
Dalbert wanted to be remembered by all who knew him as a "straight up guy"—a man of integrity, honesty, and unwavering loyalty. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
