Virginia Beach - On Nov. 22, 2014, Delbert Donald Parker “Pop,” left this world to be reunited with his beautiful wife, Nellie. Born on July 31, 1934, Pop worked at Portsmouth Naval Hospital until his retirement and was also a part-time employee at Virginia Beach Mosquito Control and Pungo Blueberry Farm. Pop was loved by all, especially his very large family. He was predeceased by his wife, Nellie; grandson, Donald Parker, son, Buddy Garnes, and son-in-law, Chuck Sommer. Remaining to grieve are his devoted son and caregiver, Donnie (Maureen); beloved daughter, Anne; daughters, Susan, Gloria (Tad), and Shirley (James); daughter-in-law, Shelby; numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Pop loved each of them very much.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wed. Nov. 26, 2014, at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA with a visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warriors at WoundedWarriorProject.org, in his name.
In honor of Pop, consider doing a random act of kindness for a stranger this Christmas as he always did.
