Doris G. Jackson

Doris G. Jackson, 80, went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2010. She was born on March, 17, 1930 in Gates County, North Carolina, the daughter of the late James W. and Catherine A. Goodwin. Some of the things Doris enjoyed in her younger years were baking and sewing in her later years her enjoyment came from her family especially her grandchildren, playing cards and fishing with her husband. Doris had been a member of Fox Hall Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Francis, Lillian, Syble and Gladys and brothers, James H., Kay, F. Lawrence and Floyd.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 43 years, Vernon R. Jackson; daughter, Rebecca J. Barraclough; son, Irving H. Dewberry, Jr., (Terry); grandchildren, Terry Dewberry, Chris Barraclough, Jessica Pucillo and Andrea White; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Eva; sister-in-laws, Mary Sue and Shirley and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 7 – 8:30 PM Friday in Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home in Virginia Beach. A memorial service will be held at11AM on Saturday in the funeral home with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502.
