Douglas Roger Oviatt

Virginia Beach - Douglas Roger Oviatt, 57, passed away August 4, 2013. He was born in Viborg, SD on Oct. 24, 1955 the son of Roger and Arlyce Oviatt. Douglas graduated high school from the Stony Brook Academy Long Island, NY. He was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed history. Douglas proudly served his country in the US Navy retiring as a Chief. He then continued his career as a supervisor at the Newport News Naval Shipyard. Douglas had a passion for music, he mastered many instruments throughout his lifetime. He was witty, loving, caring, and was always willing to help others. Douglas will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Nadia Oviatt; mother, Arlyce Oviatt; brother, Aubrey Oviatt and his wife Twyla; sisters, Joelyn Sherley, Nanette Gerdes and her husband Daniel, and Gretchen Foley and her husband Patrick; sisters-in-law, Fozia Garcia and her husband James, Khadija Johnson and her husband Daniel, Nouzha Metz and her husband James, and Fatiha Gren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Roger Oviatt.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home.
