After just turning 100 years old, Edna passed peacefully in her sleep at the Gardens of Virginia Beach where she lived for the last 10 years. Edna was a faith filled woman who inspired family and friends and made a difference in many lives.
Born in Windsor, NC, Edna graduated from Windsor High School where she played on the basketball team. After high school, Edna took a job in Greenville, NC and that is where she met Jimmie Stocks. Edna and Jimmie were married on November 26, 1942 and remained married for 73 years until Jimmie's death August 2, 2016. They had three children: James R. Stocks (Alicia), W. Steve Stocks (Nancy), and Molly S. Phillips (Alan). Edna loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She kept up with all their birthdays and special events.
Edna joined Kempsville Baptist Church in 1946 and served in many roles over the years. Her church family was a big part of her life. Donations may be made to the Kempsville Lions Club.
