Bettie has given her final “last call” on March 31, 2026, after a brief illness. She never gave up on anything in life and was a fighter to the end.
Bettie was born in Petersburg, Va. to the late Louise and Will Elmore. She was predeceased by her grandparents Mary and Ben Elmore and her brothers Larry and Benjamin Elmore. She is survived by her husband of 34 years Scott, her nieces Mary Lou Patterson (Danny) of Williamsburg, Va., Patricia Duvall of Ashland and nephew Jamie Elmore of Ruther Glen.
She graduated from Petersburg High School and continued her education at Virginia Commonwealth University and Medical College of Virginia where she graduated with a degree in Medical Technology, blood banking. After working in the emergency room environment, she decided to move to Va. Beach. She loved the beach and stayed with her Aunt Lilly at the oceanfront during summer breaks from elementary and high school. Once she relocated, she found a new career in the hospitality industry working for some of the best restaurants and clubs at the oceanfront and shore drive. She wore many hats including management, photographer, decorator, floral designer, wedding planner landscaper and consultant.
Bettie enjoyed traveling especially where she could get sand between her toes. The islands of the Caribbean were her favorites especially St. Kitts. Recently she found the west coast of Florida and enjoyed spending time in the winter at Siesta Key Village in Sarasota.
