

Frances was born in Isle of Wight County and was raised in Port Norfolk. She graduated from Wilson High School, Class of 1943 & a half and two years of Jr. College. She retired from The Virginia Beach Public School System as a secretary after twenty-three years of service. She was a member of United Community Methodist Church for sixty years and a member of The Ruth Circle and Friendship Sunday School Class. Other memberships include the Virginia School Secretaries Association, Kempsville Women’s Club, Kempsville Order of The Eastern Star, and an honorary member of the Possum Hollow Ruritan Club and the Kempsville Ruritan Club.
Mrs. McClenny was preceded in death by her parents, Colon S. Driver and Flossie Batten Driver and her husband, L. Cotton McClenny.
Survivors include her children, Carolyn Warren, (Charlie); Shepherd McClenny (Sue); Irvin McClenny, (Judy Brown); and Polly McClenny; nine grandchildren, Chad Warren, Ginny Corbett, (Martin); Shannon Roberts, (Ben); Chris McClenny, Jessie McClenny, Sydney Mustard, (Chris); Jason McClenny, (Betty); Woody Warren, (Christina); Meagan Yohnke, (Chuck) and seventeen great grandchildren, a brother, James Robert Driver, (Betty Jean) and a niece, Robin Davis, (HC) and a nephew, Jimmy Driver, (Pam) and extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at Rosewood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a local favorite charity of choice.
As they said, “We cannot see her but she is with us still. A mother like ours is more than a memory, she is a living presence. Her kindness, devotion and beautiful smile will be deeply missed.
