George Irvin Ferguson

George Irvin Ferguson, age 82, of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Ollie Mae Ferguson and his wife of fifty-three years Hyoung "Suky" Ferguson, his brother Arvin T. Ferguson and three sisters Goldie Mae Hagan, Judy Clark and Bonnie Sanders and nephews Patrick Clark and Eddie Sanders. Mr. Ferguson was born in Owensboro, KY. He was a graduate of Daviess County High School and retired from the U.S. Army after twenty-two years of service. Before his final retirement he worked in the automotive repair industry. He served as a minister in the Great Neck Baptist Church and later as a member of the Tidewater Korean Baptist Church. George enjoyed daily morning scripture reading and prayer. He cherished spending time with family and friends sharing the gospel with others. He enjoyed riding his bicycle, yard work and loved smoking his pipe. Survivors include his brother Marvin Ferguson (Brenda), nephews Richard Ferguson (Lynsie) and Daniel Goodwin (Cindy), Ollie, Darrell, and Kevin Sanders, sister-in-law, Debbie Ferguson Jones (Randall) and several great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 22 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 10:00 am at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the George I. Ferguson Memorial.
