Harvey was the first neighbor we met 15 years ago. For a time, he would climb our backyard fence. He had a green thumb, so often offered yummy carrots, collard greens, and even blackberries. Harvey enjoyed a good chat, and he was always very kind. Many times, we would see him getting the mail or bringing up the trash for another elderly neighbor, but his kindness didn't stop there. He missed his wife, and busied himself as much as possible. Harvey was very proud of his family, and he loved his pets, too. He was a fine man and a pleasure to know. We pray that his loved ones will be comforted by fond memories.

Uncle Casto will be greatly missed. I so enjoyed the times we spent together and most recently at Uncle Byrl and Aunt Ruth's anniversary celebration. I'm so glad he came and spent time with Daddy (Arnold) before his passing. We Love you all and send our prayers.

I have very fond memories of when my Mother, Iver, Aunt Eula's sister; my Dad, Fred (aka Junior); my sister, Rita; and myself would go to visit Uncle Casto and Aunt Eula when we were kids.  Uncle Casto was a very hard working man and always kept busy.  After working all day, he would work outside in his yard and/or his garden.  I remember he loved peanut butter sandwiches.  I can remember my family going to their house and our parents would play Canasta while George, Gene, my sister and I would play.  I can remember going on rides in the old classic cars that Uncle Casto and my Dad had.  We kids really thought that was something.  Uncle Casto was a very special man.  My thoughts and prayers are with all my cousins and their families.

I have many great childhood memories of my Uncle Casto. I loved visiting my Aunt Eula & Uncle Casto. I remember he and my Dad watching football while us kids were laying in the floor.  I remember him spending a lot of time outside in the garden.   He was a wonderful man and loved my Aunt Eula Lee so much.  Love to all my cousins and their families.

Uncle Casto was always kind and soft spoken. I always remember him showing great love for his wife and family. Many of my childhood memories are of the whole family at Granny's. Casto was a marvelous, hard-working, simple man whom I greatly admired - a steadfast friend, husband and father. I was privileged to be the wife of his spouse Eula's youngest sibling, Bill Bumbalough. Casto helped us with several masonary projects in the 1960's, always with a smile and a very generous price for his labor.
He was notably a man of few words, but when he was out by himself on a job, he was a veritable chatter box. It was always so fun to encounter him in that rare circumstance. Those times idemnify Casto for me.
Bill died almost 16 years ago, so my contact was limited with the Bumbalough family, except for the sporadic visits Paul & I made to Casto and the yearly phone calls to him. He always seemed to enjoy those.  I am sad that the last link to Bill's family is now gone.
 Casto was a master gardener who loved sharing his produce with family and friends. His tomatoes, winter carrots and collard were to die for.  Will never forget those gifts.
I wasn't from Casto's Tennessee background, but I'd heard stories about his devotion to teenager Eula Bumbalough that are worth sharing. They were sweethearts before he was drafted into the Army in WWII, and upon Casto's return, he'd attend church at the Henry's Methodist church on Sunday mornings and walk MILES to court Eula in the afternoons - walking back home after dark! I don't know if that's true, but it fits my experience with Casto over 60 years to a "T".
