Mrs. Serrano was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico to her late parents, Nicolas & Sofia Acevedo. She had retired from the Virginia Beach Public School System as a cafeteria server. She was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
Survivors include her loving husband of fifty-three years, Damaso R. Serrano, four children, Lillian S. Quiroz and husband, Ron; Nereida Centeno and husband, Ramon; Damaso Serrano, Jr. and wife, Florence; Monica Clark and husband, Nick; thirteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, Pedro Acevedo, Juanita Sosa and & Zaida Rivera.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, 11:00 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
