Virginia Beach- Dr. Jack S. Garrison On Saturday, March 26, 2011, Dr. Jack S. Garrison, 80, left this mortal life to rejoin his loving wife, Mary A. Garrison. He was a native of Stafford County, VA and called Virginia Beach home since 1958. He graduated James Monroe High School 1947, Randolph-Macon College 1951 and Medical College of Virginia 1955. He interned at DePaul Hospital in 1956 and served in the US Air Force from 1956-1958. While in the service he was a Flight Surgeon, Commanding Officer of the Stewart Air Force Dispensary where he had surgical privileges at the West Point Academy Hospital. He moved to Virginia Beach to open a private practice and served the area as a Family Practitioner from 1958-1999. Hospital affiliations have included DePaul, Sentara Leigh, and Sentara Norfolk General. He served as President of the Medical Staff at Sentara Virginia Beach General and Sentara Bayside. He was a member of Thalia United Methodist Church and the Thalia Civic League where he served as past President. He is survived by nine children: Julie Farino (Dale), Patti Graeff (Gene), Paul Garrison, Lisa Garrison, Larry Garrison, and Donna Garrison, all of Virginia Beach; David Garrison (Merelee) of State College, PA; Roger Garrison of San Francisco, CA; and Carol Pincombe (Brad) of Middleton, WI. He was blessed with nine wonderful grandchildren; Matt (Amber) and Scott Garrison, Courtney and Kendall Farino, Collin Smith and Chloe Garrison, and Madison, Morgan, and Tyler Pincombe. A special thank you to the staff at Baylake Retirement and Assisted Living Community, Chesapeake Beach Volunteer Fire and Rescue, and Virginia Beach Police Department, for all their time and effort. There will be a memorial service at Thalia United Methodist Church, 4321 Virginia Beach Boulevard, Virginia Beach, VA 23452, on Wednesday, March 30, at 3 p.m. The internment will be a private family service. In lieu of flowers, you are asked to consider a donation in his name to Thalia United Methodist Church or the Scholarship Fund that bears his name at Randolph-Macon College, Ashland, Virginia 23005.
