Jewel Clarice Davis

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Jewel Nichols Davis of Virginia Beach, on September 12, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in Durham, North Carolina, Jewel was preceded in death by her daughter Darlene Jones, her parents Olen J. Nichols, Sr., and Eddy L. Jackson Matthews, and her siblings J. Lynn Ehrig, Shirley Rowe, and Norman Nichols.

Jewel is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Robert Davis, Sr.; her children Robert Davis, Jr. (Margo) and Kimberly Anne Davis Kane; her brother Olen "Jack" Nichols, Jr. (Sherril); her grandchildren Chad (Tracie), Brandon (Kristin), and Chelsea Jones, Trevor (Savanna) and Tyler Davis, Tristan (Jaxon) Gafford, and Emma Caroline Kane. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jewel's greatest joys in life included spending time with her family, visiting the beach, and nurturing her beautiful flower gardens. She was renowned for her ability to create stunning floral landscapes and was always ready to offer sage advice on making anything bloom. She took immense pride in providing a warm and welcoming environment for her family. Her artistic talent was widely recognized, and she possessed a keen eye for design and style. Surrounded by her family and friends, you would often hear her in the kitchen laughing, singing, or teaching someone to dance. If you were fortunate you may have caught her on a day she was making one of her delicious cobblers using blackberries from her garden.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 17th at 1 pm at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. A memorial service and graveside ceremony will follow the visitation at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
