Lotte Stellmann Turner, a beloved matriarch, cherished friend, and vibrant member of her community, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, in Virginia Beach, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on November 27, 1938, in Germany. Lotte's journey was marked by resilience, joy, and an unwavering commitment to her loved ones. As a young girl during the turmoil of World War II, she and her family fled East Germany bravely making their way to settle in Bavaria. The hardships of that journey forged in her a remarkable resilience that defined her character and inspired everyone who knew her. She carried that same spirit of determination and gratitude throughout her life, meeting challenges with grace and strength, building a legacy of love and faith.
Lotte's life was a tapestry of love and dedication. She was the loving wife of her late husband, Lee Turner, with whom she partnered in property investment for over 48 years. Lotte was the proud mother of three daughters, Katherine B. Bolen (Gregory), Norma J. Bonney (John), and Lisa M. Mears (Allen "Reade"). Her role as a mother was one she treasured deeply, and she instilled in her daughters the values of kindness, strength, and integrity.
Her legacy continued through her grandchildren, Kyle Mears (Jordan), Garrett Wesner (Daleen), Zane Bolen (Carmen), Derek Mears, Liza Beagle (Carter), Mackenzie Bolen, and Trent Bonney. Lotte's great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Lilly, Cameron, Chase, Grey, Colton, and Benny, brought her immeasurable joy and were the light of her later years. Each child and grandchild was a unique thread in the beautiful quilt of her life, and she embraced every moment with them. She is also survived by 2 of her 7 siblings, Jürgen Stellmann and Klara Milde
Lotte was predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years, Lee Roy Turner, Jr.; her father, August Stellmann, her mother, Marie Stellmann. Brothers, Hubert Stellmann and Otto Stellman; and sisters, Kunigunde Thies, Waltraud Fiedler and Dorothea Rüttgardt.
Lotte's spirit of service and connection was evident through her involvement with several associations over the years. She was an active member of the Thoroughgood Garden Club, the Retired Officers’ Wives Club, Little Creek, the ODU Monarch Community Alliance, and the Caritas Circle of the Kings Daughters. Her aspirations as a Mahjong Master reflected her love for challenge and camaraderie.
Her interests were as varied as they were passionate. Lotte found solace in the pages of a good book, and her love for history was not just a pastime but a lifelong pursuit of knowledge. She expressed her creative side through painting and sketching. Yet, it was the simple pleasure of spending time with her family that she valued above all else.
As we bid farewell to Lotte Stellmann Turner, she will always be remembered for her generosity, humor and fierce love for her family. We celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman loved who will be dearly missed. Her spirit remains an inspiration, and her memory a treasure.
We would like to extend a special thanks to Debbie Perry for her 30+ years of dedication and friendship to Lotte and her family. Additionally, the family thanks the 2 South unit care team at Sentara Virginia Beach for their outstanding care and compassion.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm on Monday, July 14, 2025 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
