Louise Doughtie Hayes

Louise Doughtie Hayes, 75, of Chesapeake, Virginia passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024. Fondly known as "Sister" by her family, she was born in Norfolk, VA, to the late Cecil and Willie Doughtie. Louise devoted 40 years of her professional life to the city of Virginia Beach. Louise was a treasured member of Beta Sigma Phi International for 50 years. She was a former member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, playing Mahjong, reading and baking tasty treats for her family. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Louise was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, James Denton Hayes; and a grandson, Mitchell Brown.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Michael Hayes, and Carol Brown (Mike); 3 brothers, Cecil Doughtie (Mary), Carlton Doughtie (Phyllis), and Paul Doughtie (Daneen): sister-in-law, Penny Marcum; 3 grandchildren, Bailey Hayes, Hannah Phipps (Josh), and Evan Brown; and 2 great grandchildren Riley and Greyson Phipps.

A visitation for Louise will be held Friday, August 16, 2024 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462. Following the visitation will be a funeral service at 6:30 PM. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
