Lynette Constance Ecklin was born August 7, 1956, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Bennie Scott and Ruth Holmes Scott at Pennsylvania Hospital. After a long battle with her health, Lynette was given rest on December 22, 2021.
“Lynn,” as she was affectionately called, attended the Philadelphia Public Schools system, where she graduated from Olney High School in 1974. After graduating, Lynette worked as a unit clerk at Pennsylvania Hospital for a few years before joining the US Navy. While serving her country, Lynette met and married Wayne Ecklin. From this union, she was blessed with two children, a son, Shaun Ecklin, and a daughter, Kayin Ecklin.
After serving over 20 years in the US Navy, Lynette retired and worked for the US Postal Service. When she retired a second time, Lynette began a much-deserved life free of work. She was a vibrant woman who loved traveling, especially cruises, and appreciated jazz music where she attended multiple festivals. Lynette was a member of the Virginia Chapter of AARP, where she actively participated in volunteer work and community service. She enjoyed reading and good company, in which Lynette and her sisterhood formed a book club called “Beautiful Minds.” Due to her close relationship with God, she was involved with a bible study group where she developed many personable relationships. Lynette was a proud and incomparable grandmother of two, London (11 yrs.) and Basir Soul (23 mo.). She was looking forward to meeting her new granddaughter, Serenity, due January 23rd. Lynette was a selfless, strong, and triumphant pillar who loved her family as they did her. Her love for family surpassed bloodlines in which she left everlasting impressions with whoever she encountered. Lynette will genuinely be missed by many.
Lynette was preceded in death by her father, Bennie Scott, and mother, Ruth Holmes Scott. She leaves to cherish her memory her son; Shaun Ecklin, her daughter, Kayin Ecklin; two grandchildren, London Ecklin and Basir Soul, two sisters; Patricia Speller and Rochelle Mabrey, two brothers; Benjamin, and Tyrone Scott, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
