Virginia Beach – Mrs. Lelia Marie Thompson passed away in her home at Westminster Canterbury on the Chesapeake Bay on February 9, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Julian Manley (Tommy) Thompson. She is survived by her daughter, Janet T. Thompson; granddaughters Maureen Brand (David) and Allison Chandler (Scott); great grandchildren Seth Brand, Christopher Brand, Audrey Brand, Chloe Chandler and Ethan Chandler. She is also survived by her sister Nancy Harris from Emporia.
Marie was a graduate of Mary Washington College and Old Dominion University. Mrs. Thompson retired after teaching 35 years for the Norfolk City Schools. She was a member of Thalia Methodist Church.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 in the Chapel at Westminster Canterbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Westminster Canterbury Foundation, 3100 Shore Dr., Virginia Beach, VA 23451 or a charity of your choice. The family expresses their appreciation to the nursing and hospice staff at Westminster Canterbury.
