Mary Lou Hart, 92, of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away on August 26, 2023. She was born on July 22, 1931, in Raleigh, North Carolina, to Paul and Mildred Matthews. Mary Lou was the loving wife of the late Grover Wilson Hart.

Mary Lou was a woman with a heart of gold, known for her sweet and kind nature. She always had a smile on her face and touched the lives of those around her with her warmth and compassion. Mary Lou's children, Keith Wilkinson and wife Anna, Karen Perry and husband Bob, David Wilkinson, Kathy McNabb and husband Don, and Brad Wilkinson and wife Terry, were blessed to have her as their mother.

In addition to her children, Mary Lou leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren Steven, Bobby, Jennifer, Amanda, Holly, Austin, Morgan, Joshua and Hunter; and twelve great-grandchildren. She adored her family and cherished the time spent with each and every one of them.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her beloved husband Grover Wilson Hart and her parents Paul and Mildred Matthews. She was also predeceased by her nine brothers and sisters.

Mary Lou Hart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. She graduated from Norview High School in 1949. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and the Widow's Club and Holly Point Seniors Club. She worked at Thalhimers for many years and was an excellent sales associate and team player.

A private family gathering will be held to celebrate Mary Lou's life and honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to a charity of your choice in Mary Lou's name.

The family would like to acknowledge the care and compassion of the Staff at Chesapeake Place as well as Hospice nurses and aids.
