

He was the son of Darlene M. Culp and the late Martin J. ‘Joe’ Culp, of Duncansville, PA.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 25 years, Moira Devlin Culp of Virginia Beach, VA; three children Maire K. Howell, of Keaau, HI, Kathryn L. Heymann (Erik) of Irmo, SC, Matthew D. Howell of Virginia Beach, VA; four grandchildren, Maika’i Dela Cruz, Olu Dela Cruz, Natalie Heymann and Emily Heymann; two siblings, Rita L. Pompa (Joseph) and Martin J. ‘Marty’ Culp (Dale); brother-in-law Patrick L. Devlin (Karen); niece Rebecca Culp; nephews Anthony Pompa (Andrew), Timothy Devlin (Zac), and Alexander Devlin (Ann Marie); aunts Mary Culp, Betsey Harris, Rosamond Brown (Roger); uncles David Culp (Kathy) and Ronald VonDreau (Ruth); and many cousins and one great-nephew. He is preceded in death by a brother, Matthew W. Culp.
As a youth, Mitch was a standout athlete in several sports, particularly baseball. A graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, Mitch proudly served as a member of the Duncansville Volunteer Fire Department before joining the U.S. Army as an Army Firefighter serving in Operation Desert Storm. Following his service, Mitch relocated to Virginia Beach, VA where he later met his wife. He worked for the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center as a phlebotomist.
Mitch was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman. Over the years, he could be found most weekends enjoying the outdoors, hunting, boating, or fishing, walking his beagles, cheering on his favorite teams, enjoying a round of golf, or playing local and tournament softball.
He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and VFW Post 6755.
A celebration of Mitch’s life will be held at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home in Virginia Beach, VA on Friday, March 21 at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a beagle rescue organization of your choice or the Virginia Hunter Education Association.
