It is with great sadness that my brother, Lynn V. Godwin and I, William E. Godwin, Jr. announce that our beloved sister passed away on February 28, 2024. She was a blessing as a sister and a great lady.
After graduating from high school, Myrtle worked as a legal secretary for Lamb & Hutchinson Attorney at Law until her marriage to Leo B. Woolard in August of 1969. They moved to Richmond, VA shortly after and Myrtle started working for Reynolds Aluminum which later became Alcoa. Myrtle and Leo came back to Virginia for a short while to be with our father, William E. Godwin, before his passing.
Around 2002, Leo retired and Myrtle retired shortly thereafter; they sold all their possessions and purchased a mobile home and traveled until Leo passed in July of 2016. Myrtle left Richmond, VA in May of 2017 to live with her brother, Lynn. During this time, William and Lynn found that Myrtle was losing her memory and it was expected what the outcome was going to be. We are so grateful for the time we had with our sister, and know that our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ has her now.
We will celebrate her life at 11:00 am on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, Virginia Beach, VA. Viewing will begin at 10:00 am before the service. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
