Robert Kenzie Braund Jr.

Robert Kenzie Braund, Jr. (86) was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. He was reunited with his beloved wife of 59 years, Delores, and their sons, Bobby and Duane. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Ethel Stockley, Phyllis Rafferty and Jeane Slother.

Kenzie was born on August 3, 1927 and was the first son of the late Robert K. Braund, Sr. and Marion Braund. He was born in Du Bois, PA but grew up in the nearby town of Philipsburg and graduated from Philipsburg High School. After high school, he joined the United States Navy and served for 23 years before retiring from the military. Following his retirement, he went to work for Priest Electronics for 20 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and he was an active member of his congregation at Our Savior Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his daughter Linda Castle (Richard), two daughters-in-law, Louise Braund and Deborah Braund, two granddaughters, Tisha Castle and Christina Morrow (David), one grandson, Shea Braund, two great-granddaughters, Ashley Rodriguez and Abigail Morrow, one great-grandson, Gabriel Rodriguez, two brothers, Delbert Braund and DeVere Braund (Daisy) and one sister, DeMaris Dixon (Richard), as well as many nieces and nephews who will cherish their memories of him.

His family will receive friends at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home at 601 N Witchduck Road in Virginia Beach on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church at 4200 Shore Dr in Virginia Beach on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Princess Anne Memorial Park at 1110 N Great Neck Road in Virginia Beach.
