Ruth Holloman Russell

Ruth Holloman Russell passed away on November 14th, 2025 in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 97. Born September 2, 1928, in Selma, North Carolina to the late Effie Mae Batten and David Batten. She married John Holloman in 1944 and moved to Virginia Beach. They had three sons, Ronnie, Kenneth, and John David Holloman.

She worked for the Virginia Beach School Board as an administrative assistant and retired with 42 years of service.

She lost her husband of 40 years in 1984. She married Cliff Russell in 1995, and they remained married until his death in 2006. At the age of 83, she moved to Jacksonville Florida and spent the remainder of her life there.

She was preceded in death by John Holloman, Cliff Russell, and Ronnie (Judy) Holloman.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Kenneth (Vicki) Holloman, John David (Lisa) Holloman; Loretta Russell, Manda DiRubbo; 11 grandchildren, Christopher (Kate), David (Emily), Chelsea (Victor), Lauren, Natalie (Fred), Josh (Cheryl), Manda Leah, Livio (Justine), Anthony (Jenny), Raymond, Brian (Jessica), 19 great-grandchildren, Spencer, Caroline, Sullivan, Zoey, Anthony, Isabella, Giuliana, Annabeth, Tanner, Andre, Cayden, Megan, Logan, Chloe, Sophia, Alyssa, Kaitlyn, Layla, and Leo, and 1 great-great grandchild, Naomi.

A memorial service will be held in her honor at Heritage United Methodist Church at 815 Baker Road, Virginia Beach, Va on December 5th at 11AM. Friends and family are welcome.
