Wayne Robert Abbey Jr., 70, of Norfolk, Virginia passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him. Born with a steadfast spirit and a heart built for service, Wayne lived a life rooted in loyalty - to his family and to his country.

Wayne proudly served in the United States Navy for 21 years, rising to the esteemed rank of Chief Petty Officer. He embodied the qualities every leader strives for: integrity, patience, and unwavering dedication. His influence carried beyond his years in uniform, living on in the lessons he instilled and the steady leadership he modeled.

After retiring, Wayne continued to serve in a quieter but equally meaningful ways – through his steady presence he offered to anyone who needed help, advice, or simply a listening ear. Wayne will be remembered for his calm strength, his infectious laughter, and the warmth he showed to those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy is etched not only in his military service, but in the lives he touched with kindness, wisdom, and generosity.

Above all, Wayne cherished time with family. He is survived by his wife Aurora Abbey; four daughters – Martha Stellmaker, Mary Shoulders, Tammy Abbey, Nora Marshall; son - Wayne Abbey III; 13 grandchildren and one great-grand child. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Abbey.

A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery, located at 8100 Granby St, Norfolk, VA, 23505, United States. The service is scheduled for December 5, 2025, starting at 10:00 am.
