Edwin James Mooney

Edwin served his country proudly in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. After returning from the war, Edwin went to work in the maintenance department for Speidel. He was a retired maintenance worker from the YMCA in Warwick Rhode Island. Edwin was a motorcycle enthusiast throughout his life and participated in several bowling leagues.

Edwin was a past commander and color guard of the VFW Post #14, Cumberland, RI.

As a loving and caring person who was devoted to his family, he was the father of three children; the late Diane Breton and her husband Robert, the late Sharon Soltys and her late husband, Teddy, Steven Mooney, Sr. and his wife Lisa. He will also be greatly missed by his eight grandchildren, as well as ten great grandchildren. He has one surviving brother, James Mooney and his wife Rachel and is predeceased by four brothers and one sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 28, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 124 Legris Avenue, West Warwick, RI 02893. Burial with military honors will follow at The Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours for family and friends is Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 pm in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence.
