John Joseph Scotti, age 86, passed away on February 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Ann Marie (Judge) Scotti, with whom he shared 63 beautiful years of marriage rooted in love, laughter, and faith.
Born in Providence, John was the cherished son of the late Giacomo “Jack” and Elvira “Vera” (Ragosta) Scotti. A true family man, he was the proud and loving father of Jack Scotti (Monika), Martin Scotti (Ann Marie), and James Scotti. He was a devoted grandfather to Anthony, Samantha, Jennifer, James, Caitlin, Emma, and Sara, and a delighted great grandfather to Noah. John was the dear brother of Robert Scotti and the late Connie Devanney.
John’s life was filled with music, generosity, and joy. A gifted entertainer, he began playing the piano professionally at the age of 14, sharing his remarkable talent for decades. For much of his life, he brought comfort and happiness to residents of nursing homes throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island, where his music was a source of connection, warmth, and healing. Music was not just a passion for John; it was a gift he joyfully shared with others.
He also had a great love for food, conversation, and being surrounded by people. Known for his kindness, generosity, and genuine warmth, John had a way of making everyone feel welcome. His sense of humor, outgoing nature, and love of conversation made him a friend to many and a joy to be around. Above all else, he loved his family deeply and unconditionally.
A man of strong faith, John was a longtime parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church until its closing, after which he became a devoted member of St. Gregory the Great Church. Gratitude was at the heart of who he was, “thank you” were among his most often spoken words. Whenever gathered with family or friends, John could always be heard saying, “It’s good to be together,” a simple phrase that perfectly reflected the love he carried in his heart.
