Born in West Warwick on July 17, 1930, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Jeannette C. (Morin) O’Rourke.
Marguerite was a 1948 graduate of Coventry High School and a graduate of Rhode Island College, class of 1960. She had been a teacher in the Coventry School Department for thirty-three years, teaching at Knotty Oak and Oak Haven Schools. She retired from teaching in 1993.
She leaves her two children, her son James E. Carlson and his wife Joanne of Exeter, and her daughter Susan D. Carlson of Sudbury, MA. She was the mother of the late Stephen C. Carlson. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Marguerite was the sister of the late Daniel E., Richard P., Russell J., and Jeannette E. O’Rourke, Alice C. Bettez, Eleanor S. Durand, Mary L. Campbell.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 4th Avenue, East Greenwich. Burial will be private. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
