Barbara Rae Prelwitz

Barbara Rae (Williams) Prelwitz, age 62, of Gun Lake, Michigan, was called to Heaven on Sunday August 3, 2014. Barb, as family and friends called her, loved to play bingo on Sundays. She also loved to play cards and scrabble, and was tough to beat at both. She was one of Elvis Presley's biggest fans. She had a special protective spirit in her heart for all children. She was a woman of strong faith and frequently spoke out about that faith. She was headstrong and assertive and often let her family know that "she was going to do what she was going to do" and would not be told otherwise. She was a faithful wife for 41 years. Barb was preceded in death by her father, Bud Williams, her mother, Mary Jane (Postma) Muncy, her father in law, Kenneth Prelwitz, and her mother in law, Mildred (Homrich) Prelwitz. Barb is mourned by her husband, Kirby Prelwitz, her daughter, Lisa (Williams) Newhouse, her son, Kirby Prelwitz Jr, her son in law, Joe Newhouse, her daughter in law, Traci Prelwitz, her sister, Sandy Gates, 11 brothers and sisters in law, her five grandchildren who she absolutely adored, Jackson Kempker, Kendall Kempker, Kenneth Prelwitz, Hadley Newhouse, and Samuel Prelwitz, her sisters' children, Shannon Chachulski, Mike Schultz, Sheri Cox and Larry Muller, many great nieces and nephews and nieces and nephews in law, her aunts and uncles, her many cousins, and her close friends, Sarah Giles, and Sarah's mother, Maggie Giles. Barb was an extremely caring person who often put others ahead of herself. She is dearly and deeply loved and missed and will never be forgotten. Friends may visit with her family on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 5-7 PM at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services, 4330 18th Street, Dorr. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11:30 AM at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services. Contributions in memory of Barb may be given to a charity of your choice.
