

Erwin Doublestein, age 88, of Wayland, born in Otsego, went to be with his Lord, Saturday, January 9, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Velma Doublestein; brothers, Robert, Duane and Charles Doublestein. Erwin will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Anne Doublestein (Chlebana); his sons, Erwin and Cathy, Gary and Linda, Scott and Pam; his six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Clifford, Bernard and Mary Ann, Rev. William and Karen Doubblestein; and many nieces and nephews. Erwin served in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific. He was recognized as Veteran of the Year for 2011 by the Wayland VFW Post 7581. Erwin retired as a Supervisor at Checker Motors after 27 years. He served as Wayland Township Supervisor for 12 years. Erwin was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Gun Lake and the Wayland VFW for many years. A time for relatives and friends to visit with the family will be held from 5 to 8 PM Monday with a Rosary service beginning at 5, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services, in Wayland, 312 N. Main St. Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Tuesday, January 12, at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 159 - 131 St. St. Father Christian Johnston, presiding. In honor of Erwin, contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research or SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church - Building Fund.
