Jim was one of my first contacts when joining HRC in 1970 as a Co-op from Wayne State. His incredible attention to detail and analytical mind impressed me throughout the rest of my working career at HRC. We worked on more projects than I care to remember and his good nature and clever wit always made the work enjoyable. I learned a great deal from him over the years and will always be grateful to have known him. The models he built for me will always have a special place of display and will remind me of how creative he was.  My condolences to his family and my hope is that the memories he left you will be a comfort in your grief. Jim was a god friend and was very skilled in his profession and in his after work projects.  I was involved with getting Jim his engine for his three-wheeler vehicle and several other projects that required electrical wiring assistance.  I enjoyed hearing about Jim's projects, especially the models he built, some of which were museum quality. I have many memories with Jim but here are a few: his mentoring me when I was a kid engineer, crawling through the storm sewer together at Chrysler Kokomo and hoping it didn't rain while we were down there, our many lunch conversations in A2 about things that really matter, the replica of Francis Drake's Golden Hind he built for me, visiting him later in life in Fenton and Grand Rapids. Jim was one of the best men I have ever known. He helped many young people take a calm, thoughtful approach to life and its problems. It was my pleasure to know this gentle, talented, and artistic man for over 45 years.  Of course my condolences to his extended family: daughters, grandchildren, and grandnieces who all loved him dearly.  Jim has indeed sailed over the horizon; allow me to offer this second poem in his memory:  Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. So as we lose sight that beautiful ship...                                    Somewhere on the other side of the horizon, they see a ship arise, and others wait to greet it.
