Loretta "Lori" Agnes Vander Stelt, age 82, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Though her life held its share of complications and hardships, she found deep comfort in her close walk with Christ. Lori spent her best days on a boat, catching her limit to enjoy every Sunday with a fish fry. She enjoyed her massive flower garden and tended to it lovingly.
Lori could DIY just about anything with a "how-to book" and had incredible workmanship in home repair and woodworking. In her later years, she completely refinished her 1994 Ford Explorer on her own and painted every single panel a different color. Her only defeat involved a piano she attempted to refinish, and, after several months, bags upon bags of keys were moved to the curb for trash day.
As Charles Spurgeon once suggested, Lori visited many books but lived in the Bible. Only second to her Bible was her other favorite companion, a dog named Sam, who pretty much refused to be trained, despite her best efforts.
Loretta will be remembered by her husband, Leroy Vander Stelt, and children Carrie Vander Stelt, Lee (Deb) Vander Stelt, Dave (Diana) Vander Stelt, and Christy (Scott) Noordhoek.
Donations can be made to For The Gospel in lieu of flowers, as Costi Hinn was Lori's favorite YouTube pastor.
A private family celebration of Loretta ’s life will commence at a date and time to be determined. Interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.kubiakcookwayland.com in their guest book online.
