William Mauchmar

William Mauchmar, age 88 of Wayland, born September 26, 1932 went to be with his Lord, Friday, May 7 2021 while surrounded by loved ones at his home. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Bernadine “Cookie” Mauchmar and daughter, Christine Long. Surviving are children Vickie (Dave) May, Conrad (Mary) Mauchmar, William (Terri) Mauchmar, Rodney Mauchmar, Sharon (Clyde) LaDuke, Douglas (Tammie) Mauchmar, and Amy (Mark) Holloway; son-in-law Dave Long; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

He served our country in the U.S. Naval Reserves for nine years. Bill enjoyed education; he was a teacher and elementary school principal for the Kentwood school system for over 36 years. He enjoyed playing the clarinet; in his spare time he played music for The Terrible Troubadours and his band, The Good Time People. He liked gardening, canning, and spending time with his ever-growing family. He served on the Wayland city council, the planning commission, downtown development authority, Allegan County Board of supervisors, president of the Wayland Zoning Board of Appeals, St. Therese School board of education member - only to mention a few things he contributed to the local community. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Therese Church, Wings of Hope Hospice, or Wayland VFW.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2021 with Rosary at 5 p.m. at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 312 N. Main St. Wayland, MI. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2021 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 128 Cedar St. Wayland, MI. Celebrants Fr. Evelio Ramirez and Father Chuck Fisher.
