Ambrosia Lozano was born on September 28, 1928 and passed away on July 15, 2024, at the age of 95, surrounded by her loved ones. She attended school in Galena Park and would eventually move to the Greater East End to settle down and start her family. She was the youngest of 5 children born to Ambrosio Reyes and Euladia Lopes. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George Lozano, her daughter Kathleen "Kathy" Costilla and her siblings Celestino, Margaret, Merce and Carlos Reyes.
Ambrosia worked hard for many years as a custodial supervisor at the Tenneco building in downtown Houston. But her most important work was done at home raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She opened her home to so many family members throughout the years and always treated everyone with dignity and respect.
Ambrosia was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. One of the ways she showed her affection was by cooking for her loved ones. She whipped up many delicious meals in her tiny kitchen and was famously known for her flour tortillas. In her free time she enjoyed working outside in her yard, going on shopping trips to the mall with her niece, Elizabeth Martinez, and catching up on her favorite telenovelas in the evenings. She never turned down an invitation to go out to eat at her favorite restaurants. Satisfying her sweet tooth with a pastry, chocolate or an ice cold Coke on a daily basis was an absolute must.
Although she may have been the tiniest of her siblings, that didn't stop her from being strong. She was able to handle all that life threw at her with such grace and resilience. Her love was truly unconditional and her legacy will live on in those whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her son Gregorio Lozano, her grandchildren, Julianne Trevino, Danielle Costilla, Selena and Christopher Moore, and George and Jeanette Lozano. That love would continue to grow once her great grandchildren Daniel, Angel, and Brody, London and Lalia Alexander, Arielle Moore, Sebastian, Aubrey and Adeline Tamez and Brendon Lozano came into her life. She will be greatly missed by all.
A visitation for Ambrosia will be held Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, Texas. A funeral service will occur Monday, July 29, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, with by a committal service at 11:00 AM at Forest Park East Cemetery, to be immediately followed by a catered reception from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
