Annamma Mathai

Annamma Mathai Chempanal (Amma to her children) was born in Vettiyar (Mavelikara) on January 15, 1927 as the youngest daughter of Kavil Yohannachan and Sosamma. As she lost her father at an early age, she grew up under the care of her mother and eldest brother, Pastor K.J. Samuel. Her marriage to T.M. Mathai, Chempanal took place on February 22, 1943. After 70 years of blessed family life, her dear husband went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2013.

Joymon (P.M. Mathew) wife Molly, daughter Jamie, her husband Sijo Sunny, Baby Sarah (Amma’s first great-granddaughter) & daughter Jenny and her husband Edwin Johnson.

Kunjumon (John Mathew), wife Susan, daughter Janice, her husband Ajay Singh & daughter Ashley.

James Mathew, wife Grace, children Sharon, Steven & Sheryl.

Bobby (Samuel Mathew), son Joel.

Roy (Varghese Mathew), wife Bini, children Robinson & Samuel

Renji (Kuruvilla Mathew), wife Shinimol, children Michelle & Nathan

Sherly (Susan), husband Rajan (Alexander Thomas), children Nisha, Nicole & Noel.

Amma migrated to USA in 1988. Her life was very happy and greatly blessed, indeed, as she had all her children living around her in the same city and worshipping the Lord together in the same church, IPC Hebron, Houston! Amma served the Lord diligently and raised up her children in the fear of the Lord. She was an immense source of comfort and blessing to all - family, friends and the church community.

On August 2, 2015 at 1-15 A.M., while the family and friends were singing songs of praise and hope, Amma departed to be with the Lord whom she loved and served all her life. We are comforted by the blessed and precious hope that we will surely meet her on the other beautiful shore.
