Betty was a true "Southern Belle" and loved living in Houston, but she never forgot her Alabama roots. Her blood ran with the "Crimson Tide" and if an Alabama football game was on television, nothing could stop her from cheering on her favorite team. Her love for "Big Jim" was why she left her beloved Alabama and moved to Houston. Shortly after settling in Houston, she and Jim welcomed their twin boys into the world. Betty thought that she was having one baby and was extremely surprised when they informed her in the delivery room that there was another baby. Although her entire life, she had dreamed of having just one daughter, she accepted and settled into life as the mother of her two sons. She was a loving wife and mother, always insistent upon having supper on the table at 5 o'clock and actively involved in her boys lives through Boy Scouts.
