

Beverly graduated from Texas City High School and obtained a Bachelors in Education from the University of North Texas. She was a devoted educator with a heart for children. She taught elementary and junior high students for many years in the Spring Branch Independent School District, and was beloved by her students.
Beverly married Robert Laymon and had one daughter, before their divorce Later in life, she completed a Masters degree in Social Work at the University of Houston and became a Licensed Social worker. She worked in nursing homes and had a private practice for several years.
Beverly was always interested in fashion, having been a model for a department store in her youth. She sold jewelry for many years, and enjoyed helping people look their best. She was happy her granddaughter inherited her eye for fashion.
In retirement, Beverly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, whether dropping in to have lunch with them at school, or cheering them on at sporting and dance events. She volunteered her time working the prayer line at Second Baptist Church, and joined the Texas Prison Ministry service. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors as well as family.
Beverly is survived by her daughter Lyndy Olinger, son-in-law Rob Olinger, grandchildren Nicholas and Natalie Olinger, brother Gene Latham, sister-in-law Karol Latham, and niece Jennifer Latham. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Gordon Latham, and brother James Latham.
Services will be held at the Woodway Campus Second Baptist Church in Houston on November 1st from 10-12. Private family funeral will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
