

Having grown up in San Antonio, Ray lived most of his life in the Houston area. Ray attended Rice University and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from University of Texas in Austin.
He married the love of his life, Martha McDonald in 1958. Together they had two children Ray McDonald (Don) and Debra Elizabeth (Debbie). They raised their family in Clear Lake City where Ray worked in both aerospace and oil & gas industries.
A highlight of his work in aerospace came in 2007 when he was awarded NASA’s coveted Space Flight Awareness Snoopy Award. This special recognition is given by the astronauts for outstanding performance in flight safety and mission success.
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Ray is survived by wife Martha, daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Chip Court, granddaughter Kate and husband Clint Carton, and granddaughter Meg, sister and brother-in-law Ann and Charlie Richie, nieces and nephews Cheryl and Mike Galifaro, Jeanette and Chuck Richie, Margaret and Howard Marshall, Becky Banes and numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by son, Don and parents Nettie Loretta (Tommie) and Cecil W. Shearer.
A visitation for Ray will be held Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
A funeral service will occur Monday, November 14, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598, followed by a graveside ceremony.
