Celestina S. Puentes

Celestina Puentes was born on April 6, 1943 in Los Fresnos, TX to Luciano Sanchez and Clara Ramos Sanchez. She was preceded in death by her husband Juan Puentes Sr, and sons, Juan Puentes Jr, and Adan Puentes.

She graduated in 1962 from Los Fresnos High School and moved to League City, TX in 1963, where she met and married her husband of 44 years and started their family.

She co-founded Iglesia Bautista El Salvador in 1985 in League City, TX. She was a faithful and avid member of the church for over 35 years. Her active contributions to the church included missionary efforts, teaching Sunday school, women’s ministry, and vacation bible school. She really loved reading her Bible and was faithful to the Lord. Her favorite passage was Psalms 23.

She loved flowers and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, puzzles, but mostly spending quality time with family. Two of her greatest passions were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Celestina leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Elida Mares and husband Jose, Sr., Sylvia Paden and husband Roberto, and Delia Hernandez and husband Joel, Sr.; sister-in law, Cruzita Garza and husband Braulio; her grandchildren Korina Gutierrez and husband Daniel, Joel Hernandez, Jr., Rachel Vasquez, Diana Hernandez, Juan Marcos Hernandez, Jose Mares, Jr., and Marisa Mares; great-grandchildren, Elena, Lea, Alyssa, Daniel, Joel III, and Gabriel; numerous loving nieces and nephews, as well as many faithful friends and dear colleagues. She will be extremely missed by all.

Visitation will be held on September 2, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Forest Park East Funeral Home. A celebration of life will follow on September 3, 2021 at 10:00 am at Forest Park East Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow.
