Claxton Dale Cole, age 60, of Friendswood, Texas entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 25, 2023. Dale was born on July 12, 1963 in Brownwood, Texas. He grew up in Brady, Texas, and played the trombone in the Brady Bulldog Marching Band. After graduating from Brady High School, he attended Texas Tech University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1987.
Dale married his next-door neighbor, Lori, a single mother, on March 12, 1988 in Lubbock, Texas. That same year Dale, Lori, and her son, John, moved to League City, Texas, where Dale worked for Amoco Chemical and later BP PLC. In 2006, Dale accepted a two-year assignment from BP to Port of Spain, Trinidad, West Indies. Following this post, he and Lori returned to League City.
To celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary in 2013, Dale and Lori traveled to Hawaii and renewed their vows surrounded by their loving family.
Dale enjoyed hunting, traveling, singing, listening to southern gospel music, country and ballroom dancing, and spending time with friends and family. To those who knew Dale, you know he was a self-proclaimed grammar snob, and paid meticulous attention to detail.
Dale was deeply rooted in his faith in God and was a member of Grace Community Church where he sang in the choir. He will be remembered for his rich baritone voice. His favorite hymn was “How Great Thou Art”.
Dale is survived by Lori, his wife of 35 years; their son, John Michael Cole (Jenna); seven grandchildren: Abigail, Sadie, Jax, Ambrose, Philomena, Felicity, and Charlotte; his father, Billy Charles Cole; and three brothers: Randall Cole (Paula), Greg Cole (Kim), and Brendon Cole (Natalie). He is preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Hall Cole.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 1 at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, Texas, followed by a private burial at Forest Park East Cemetery on Saturday, September 2, 2023.
Dale's "Celebration of Life" service will be held Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in the Grace Church chapel, 14505 Gulf Freeway, Houston, TX 77034.
