Curtis “R” Langford, 74, of Alvin, TX passed away on August 18, 2024. He was born in Galveston, TX on January 20, 1950, to Howard G. Langford and Evelyn Langford. Curtis grew up in Webster, TX, when it was mostly pastures. He was very outgoing, to say the least. He rodeoed and played sports. Curtis and his brothers were all well known in town as those "crazy Langford boys." He graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1969.
Curtis lived in Alvin, TX, for 50 years. This is where he met Robyn through mutual friends. Robyn and Curtis were married for 39 1/2 beautiful years, and she had her hands full with him, that's for sure.
R was a "real life" cowboy and worked as a ranch hand & rough rider until he was blessed with his daughter Cindy and was asked to get a "real job". Being the responsible man he was, "Little Bones" then started work at Amoco Oil until he was offered early retirement in 2000 after almost 30 years. He still rode rough stock on the weekend until the early 80s. After retirement he kept busy. He made saddle pads at Bayou West Saddle Pad Co. He could always rebuild and remodel anything.
In the 80s, he was introduced to Team Roping by his cousin David Mangrum. At that time, they won their first buckle, and he was hooked. Curtis went on to win many more buckles from there. During this time, he loved mentoring the younger generations of cowboys and cowgirls on roping and riding.
To Curtis, his family was most important, and if he liked you, you were considered family. He always loved spending time with them. He always looked forward to going up to the country to work the hay fields and cows with his dad and brothers or just to drink coffee and visit with them.
He always had that fun side to him by being a jokester, and he loved to pick on everyone. He enjoyed being around people, and you couldn't help but love him. Curtis always enjoyed and lived life to the fullest. He touched so many lives in the process. He always saw the good in everyone. He was a one-of-a-kind person, and they broke the mold with him.
He is survived by his wife, Robyn Langford; daughter Cindy Arnett and son Jeff Arnett; son Jesse Munoz and daughter Monica Moreno; grandchildren, Loren Anderson and wife Catherine, Dylan Anderson, Colt Munoz, Hadley Munoz; bonus grandchildren, Riley McCarty and husband Dennis, Kailey Michel, Brenna Michel; bonus great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Dennis and Denver McCarty; brothers Howard "Grit" Langford and wife Sandy and Forest "Fuzz" Langford and wife Terry; cousin "sister" Patti Wilburn, along with numerous other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Evelyn Langford; late wife Vickie Langford; sister Dale Copeland and her husband Wayne.
