Daires Earl Shankles, Sr., 93, of Texas City, Texas, passed away May 22, 2016. He was born in Bodcaw, Arkansas on January 23, 1922 to Claude and Virginia Shankles. Daires was married to Evelyn Callaway Shankles for 58 years. Daires worked for Hertz Equipment Rental as a diesel mechanic. He served his country as a Marine in World War II. Daires and Evelyn enjoyed flying, traveling, camping and boating together. He was the photographer at family gatherings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Virginia Shankles; brothers, Francis Shankles, Troyce Shankles; sisters, Marjorie Shankles, Joyce Shankles;
Daires is survived by his sisters in law, Lois Miller and husband Harold, Anne Borel. He will be greatly missed by his numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home. Interment to immediately follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
