

He was born Wednesday, October 11, 1961 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Carolyn Scott and Olan Delapp. Dale was raised and educated in Pasadena, graduating from South Houston High School in 1981. He worked for Brown & Root for 25 years and S & B for many years after that. Dale finished his career with Jacobs/Worley; he was well known and respected in his industry. Dale has been a small business owner in the Pasadena area since 2007, owning and operating Sams Place & The Cove. Dale met Jerri Whittenton in 1984 and they were married on July 30, 2005 and she survives.
Dale had a big heart and cared for many causes; he was constantly giving back to help support his community. With the gift of gab, Dale never met a stranger. He made friends wherever life took him. He was someone you could depend on, knowing that his word was his bond. Dale was an outdoorsman—he loved to hunt and fish. He was a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and a member of the Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo for many years. Dale was an avid fan of LSU Sports and loved animals of all kinds and loved sharing ice cream with his beloved dog, Sasha.
He is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Addison Hendricks and many other friends and loved ones.
Surviving is his wife, Jerri Delapp, one daughter, Crystal (Jeremy) Hendricks and one son, Wesley (Summer Cormier) Phillips. Five grandchildren Makenna, Brooklyn, Hunter, Alexa, & Alivia. His parents Carolyn and Mike “Babe” Ruth, one sister Kimberly (Brandon) Buchanan, two brothers Steven (Misty) Ruth and Jeff (Tiffany) Delapp. Also surviving are five nieces; Emma, Makayla, Taylor, Micaiah, and Susanna and four nephews, Micah, James, Cooper, & Tanner; one honorary daughter, Deianna Copeland, as well as many other dear friends and family members.
