

He was married to Helen Louis Roberts, the love of his life and soulmate, for 33 years.
Dan was a jack of all trades, including being an artist, avid angler, cook, drafter, repairman, remodeler, and storyteller; but most of all a good friend, he would drop everything to help anyone. He also enjoyed working in his garden, putting in a koi fishpond or tending to the chickens.
Dan grew up in Pasadena and Galveston, he received his GED and joined the Airforce.
Dan was a Master Mason, of which he was immensely proud.
Dan was preceded in death by his son Phillip, grandmother Margaret Moore Ryan (Grammacita), and his stepson Johnny Cole White.
Dan is survived by his wife Helen of Dickinson, daughters Kristi Spence (Adam) of Houston, Brenda Spence of Spring, Ashley Spence (Tyson Willey) of Micanopy, FL, and sons Clayton Robert Batchelor (Sabra) of Spring, Joshua Spence (Beatrice) Las Cruces, NM, stepdaughters Leslie Lopez (Raul) of Dickinson and Stephanie Caddell (Shaun) of Burnet. He is also survived by his grandchildren Cassious, Justin, Jeaven, Keldin, Kathryn, Gavin, Kela, Jeremiah, Logan, Shane, Dakota, Brittani, Alyssa, Lacey, Kendal, Garrett, Rebecca, Hailey and Brody, and 13 great grandchildren; his mother Dr. Charlton (Michaela) Ryan of Omaha, NE; father Phillip Leon Spence of Wichita Falls, brother Ronny Spence of California and sister Peggy Leigh Bell of Michigan.
Dan also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and numerous family members and friends.

There will be a celebration of Dan’s life at Algoa First Baptist Church in Alta Loma on Saturday January 27, 2024, at 4:00 pm.
