She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerard Ray, Jr. and beloved son Douglas Allen Walton.
After graduating Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston, she started her career at Southern Pacific Railroad. Her residences included Houston, Levittown, Pennsylvania, Pasadena, Texas, Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and the Clear Lake, Texas area. She made it a point to be a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Wherever she was, she was an avid volunteer at her church, children’s schools, and civic and charity organizations. Homemaking and hospitality were great gifts she had. Her hobbies included gardening and playing bridge and bingo, but the greatest joy of all was a round of Yahtzee with the grandkids. Her travels included, Holy Lands, Europe, Hawaii, and most of the United States, with her favorite being Colorado.
As a brave and strong independent woman, she set goals for her life and met all but a few, including attending all family graduations, weddings, births, and living past 90. Despite a chronic lung condition, Dolores rarely missed a gathering or livestreamed church service.
Dolores was a long time member of Southeast Church of Christ and held positions of interest in the ladies class, benevolent committee, nursery, and wherever she could lend a hand and serve. She loved working with the 39rs group planning their activities and events.
Known as GiGi Mom, she will be forever missed by her surviving children, Steve Walton of Pearland, Texas and Judy Walton West of Seabrook, TX, grandchildren Brian Walton (Amy) of Madison, Alabama, Staci Walton Griffin (Michael) of Pearland, Texas, Christopher Walton (Katie) of Centennial, Colorado, Kevin Walton (Eva) of Golden, Colorado, Kyle West (Rocio) of Houston, David West of Houston, Paula West Floyd (Chris) of Houston, and Michael West of Seabrook, TX. Great-grandchildren, Luke Walton, Ally Walton, Tessa Walton, Madelynn Walton, Emilia Rose West, and Hadley Brae Walton.
Dolores is also survived by her sister Leita Rue Baten, numerous nieces and nephews, and was a special friend to many.
The family extends our deepest gratitude to the staff of Delaney at South Shore in League City and Essential Hospice for providing the quality of life she deserved.
