Douglas Dewey Brookshire, age 66 of League City, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on April 21, 2023, at UTMB-Clear Lake Hospital, Webster, Texas, after a brief stay. Doug was born on October 29, 1956. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden death.
Doug is survived by his parents, William “Bill” and Shirley Brookshire, of Yukon, Oklahoma; brother Mike Brookshire of Yukon, Oklahoma; sister Leann Murchison and husband David Murchison of Amarillo, Texas; and sister Tisha Cypert and husband Kenneth Cypert of Ada, Oklahoma. Doug is also loved and forever remembered by his partner and love, Cindy Dahlgren Crick of Euless, Texas, and stepson Cody Worthen, wife Seema Worthen, and daughter Cai Worthen of League City, Texas. Doug will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins that loved and admired him.
Doug was born at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. He grew up in Yukon and graduated from Yukon High School where he played football and studied electricity at Canadian Valley Vo-Tech Center. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends, riding his motorcycle and playing football and other sports. He went to work for Brown and Root Construction Company after high school as an electrician trainee. He continued in that field with Zachary Construction, Austin Power Construction, and then spent more than 30 years with Thermon Manufacturing eventually becoming a master electrician, licensed in 27 states, and traveling the world. Doug retired from Thermon in May 2020.
Doug was a fun-spirited friendly soul who took on many passions. Through the years he loved boating and fishing, owning his own 38- foot fishing yacht, cooking for friends, golfing, hunting, softball, blackjack, snow skiing, water skiing, golf, bull riding, darts, and dog racing. He was always an OU Sooners (even though he was transplanted to Texas) and Dallas Cowboys fan!
Doug’s smile and laugh would light up the whole room. He cared so deeply for the people around him and was very kind and generous with his family and friends. He has left in his path friends and family whom he has touched and helped and who are better people because of him. He will be forever missed, and always in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. As Doug would say, “Cheers Everyone!”
A memorial service for Douglas will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
