

Edith Valene Howard, 88, of Alvin, Texas, passed away June 14, 2015. She was born in Oakalla, Texas on February 14, 1927. Edith graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, Texas. She was married to Flim Jeff Howard on July 27, 1946. Edith worked in the oil and gas industry for Shell Oil. She was a member of Westside Church of Christ and had a passion for family, church, reading, and cooking. She was greatly loved and admired by all whose lives she touched. Edith is survived by her husband Flim Jeff Howard; son Darrell Howard and wife Sherry; daughter Kathryn Chapnick and husband Ronnie; daughter Sheila Dees and husband David; grandchildren Bryan Chapnick and wife Chely, Andrea Howard, Michael Chapnick and wife Rachel, Jason Howard and wife Crissy, James Dees, Laura Springer and husband Jacob; great-grandchildren Tyler Chapnick, Ashley Chapnick, Ian Chapnick, Bethany Chapnick, Haley Howard, Emma Howard; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents John Scott and Roxie Jane Spencer; sister Ethel Daley; sister Anita Kruel; sister Lynette Cowan; brother Scotty Spencer; and brother Dewey Lee Spencer. A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home. The celebration of Edith’s life will be Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home with interment to follow at the V.A. Houston National Cemetery.
