Esther Salinas Gonzalez, born in McAllen, TX in 1937, passed peacefully on April 11, 2023 at the age of 85. Esther grew up in Houston, TX where she worked for The University of Houston for over 35 years. A lady of many talents, Esther excelled at giving care to everyone and everything.
Her green thumb was legendary as her home was a display of flowers and plants of every type. Everything Esther touched grew to amazing levels. Her care also took form in her love of animals. Whether from family or animals she found throughout the years, Esther was the savior of God’s creatures. She would nurse them back to health and was well-known in the animal world as the person to seek when in despair.
Esther made every effort to provide care and comfort to everyone she met. Those who know her, only know of someone who would do anything to help or provide support. She touched so many throughout her life and she remains endeared in their hearts forever.
Esther’s greatest care was always for her family. She is survived by her daughter Emma Martinez, daughter Carolyn Grimland and son-in-law David, her son Adrian R. Gonzalez and daughter-in-law Amber, and her brother Marco P. Salinas. She is preceded by her beloved husband of 44 years, Arnulfo R. Gonzalez, her son Charles Edward Driscoll, her mother Adela Salinas, her sister Mabel S. Ramirez, her son-in-law Ernesto Martinez, and her great granddaughter Olivia Claire Sanchez.
